So much to say, yet at a loss for words.

In the Ocean

The sea strums my hair
inks my dry paper-armor,
kisses softly all the sheen
off my bones,
unwinds all their breath
on a tear-tasseled kite,
a shell-ripple wind soaking
into the sky.

Then it leaves me
where it sifts in the sand,
seeps coldly into me
away from its long, wide pulse
before it is found;
my sleep scatters in its sigh
as it breaks my words, so
small
in the hollow of its roar,
on gleaming silver scales
heaving against my heart.

Deluge in Unfocused Eyes

The sea has never quite left us,
Isles of its soul above the land
hanging on where life is.

Time has fought the tide,
Won in intricate wars, but skirmishes
writing, rewriting colorful limits,
Burying tenebrous songs of old.

Yet, the waters labor on, now clothed
in green, crimson, and gold-
In the fall foliage breaking,
spears of waving green,
Unending in a floating world.

Pink Pearls

Uncontained in its pride
Just to be the sunset's sea,
Just a second.

It chimes a cascade, a jangling
Of a world never painted-
Skipping shyest desires
Gasping, floating at the gills.

Far lay the empty liquid sands
Barren, and still sinking away,
Mined of all but fantasy.

A Morning Away

My thoughts were lost to the open sea
As I set them on the sand.
New ones, I wove through a heart of rocks
Where the veins of the waves coax land.

Out, my words tumbled when the tide came in.
In, as I went to the lonely, barren shore.
How my mind came to me in tricking lace,
Hooked to the horizon, tied to the sea floor.

So much is lost in this unending land
Where the "where" becomes the "why".
Restraint is spilled, but easily a fool
When the land knows more than the eye.
